A Guide to Planning Permission Regulations......

As a guide, if the following criteria are met Planning Permission is
not usually required;

The proposed leisure complex must exceed 5 metres in distance from the dwelling house.
The leisure complex must not exceed 4 metres in height.
The leisure complex must lie within the boundary of the property i.e. garden area, not adjoining field.
The leisure complex must be 20 metres away from any highway or public footpath.
The leisure complex must not exceed more than 50% of the overall curtilage – excluding the dwelling house.
It is necessary for the normal permitted development rights to be
intact.
The leisure complex should be for the purpose only of the enjoyment of the occupants, family and friends of the dwelling house.
The dwelling house should not be listed or situated within a
designated area, i.e. Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or
Conservation Area, green belt only is not a problem.

Under normal circumstances planning permission is not required for outdoor pools. If you can comply with these guidelines, this is classed as Permitted Development, Class E, Schedule 1 and does therefore NOT require planning permission. These are for general guidance purposes only.
